Johannes Kleiman was one of the Dutch citizens who helped hide Anne Frank and her family during the Nazi occupation of the Netherlands. In the published version of Anne's diary, The Diary of a Young Girl, he is given the pseudonym Mr.
Alfred Klee with his daughter Ruth Goslar. Ruth was the mother of Hanneli Goslar, the best friend of Anne Frank. Ruth Goslar died in 1942 in Amsterdam during childbirth. The child was stillborn. Alfred Klee was deported to the Dutch transition camp of Westerbork in late 1943, and perished there.
