En 1465, Serafeddin Sabuncuoglu (1.385-1.486), médico nacido en Amasya (hoy Turquía), escribió el primer libro ilustrado de cirugía de la literatura turco-islámica, llamado ‘Cerrahiyyetu´l Haniye' ‘Cirugia Imperial', de 190 capítulos, donde describe patologías urológicas variadas y su respectivo tratamiento ya que era un pionero en el mundo de la cirugía.

Regimen Sanitatis Salernitanum (The Salernitan Rule of Health -commonly known as Lilium medicinae - The Lily of Medicine) is a medieval didactic poem in hexameter verse. It is allegedly a work of the Schola Medica Salernitana,  believed to have been written in the 12th or 13th century. Even though the book bears the name of the famous medieval medical school, it is not certain if it originated there. It was the first and very popular "Home Health Manual".
