I luv the sheer overblouse this young lady from the 1840s is wearing, but I don't know what it properly should be called. It is not a bodice, a waist, a pelerine, a berthe. I don't know, but if I had it, I'd wear it. If you look closely you will see she is wearing a chemisette under her bodice, and, of course, a ring on her forefinger.

The caption on this was in German and meant, "show original image". This is such an attractive, clean-cut, all-together young gent (herr), I couldn't resist saving his image even though it is probably a tintype. I hope he achieved something grand and good in his life. Mid 1860s
