William Sydney Porter (September 1862 – June known by his pen name O. Henry, was an American short story writer. Henry's short stories are known for their wit, wordplay, warm characterization, and surprise endings.

Awesome, tragic, the tale of the author is almost as good as his tales. The Collected Tales of Edgar Allen Poe is definitely a must-read. (though not necessarily all at once!)
