How to take photos of the Milky Way - I've been taking lots of night photos recently so I decided to write a blog post on how to best capture the glorious milky way in the sky.

How to take photos of the Milky Way

This was taken after an amazing weekend in Tekapo, New Zealand. The small town is a dark sky reserve so as you look up, the views are some of the clearest you will ever see of the universe around us. Photo taken by Niall McKenna. ~Through the Lens~

I take A LOT of photos of it… I think people in New Zealand get tired of seeing it because they see it so much, but my feeling is others around the world can’t get enough of it! :) - TEKAPO, NEW ZEALAND - photo from #treyratcliff Trey Ratcliff at http://www.StuckInCustoms.com

Perhaps they are not stars, but openings in heaven where the love of our lost ones pours through and shines down upon us...

Bucket list Star gazing in an open landscape. :) Perhaps they are not stars, but openings in heaven where the love of our lost ones pours through and shines down upon us.

"October night" The night sky is so beautiful. Its the second most beutiful sight ive ever seen in my life. By Tore Heggelund

Taken near Bixby Bridge north of Big Sur, CA, this is a 12 shot vertical panorama taken around 4 am this past Monday, when the Milky Way was pretty high in the sky. The glow near the horizon is a lighthouse just around the bend. All shots are 20 seconds, except the bottom one, which is 3 minutes. Stitching was done in two steps in PhotoShop. I used my usual camera gear, a Canon 6D w/ a Rokinon 24mm at f/2, ISO 6400.

Love to learn how to take a time-lapse photo of the Milky Way like this. "Taken near Bixby Bridge north of Big Sur, California when the Milky Way was pretty high in the sky. The glow near the horizon is a lighthouse.
