War memorials I have come across. They are a form of public art that the public doesn't notice.
Saluting: Dogs Of War
Early photo of the War Dog Memorial at Hartsdale Pet Cemetery (ACME News Pictures, Inc. 1936). The War Dog Memorial at Hartsdale Pet Cemetery was dedicated in 1923 to honor the military working dogs that served in World War I and all succeeding conflicts. The War Dog Memorial - believed to be the first memorial of its kind - is designated as a landmark in Westchester County and is listed in the Art Inventories Catalog of the Smithsonian Institute.
