A 300 year old ornamental Maori adze-head, made of Pounamu (Nephrite or Greenstone). Note the small hole drilled at the top for suspension on a fine cord worn around the neck. It was found in 1972 during archaeological excavations at Lagoon Flat, Claverley (Kaikoura coast).
