The sun, 'Ra'
Design. Eight year olds 'Ra', Maori for sun. The children made impressions of the sun using Maori designs based on the tiki. The circle in the centre was practiced and drawn with markers. Then the rays of the sun were designed and added. The colour was limited to warm shades. The children were asked to consider symmetry and patterns when making their designs.
