well, this is interesting.. brain research says that placing a red dot in the middle of words can help children see the whole word.. try it with students who just look at the beginning of words and then guess.

Thanks to brain specialist Fritz Mengert, I learned how to use a red dot in my reading instruction. Mengert told me that placing a red dot in the center of a word helps kids focus on the middle rather than just the beginning.
