Carmela Cuomo, Ph.D. is a professor in the #biology department in our University of New Haven College of Arts and Sciences. She is an expert in marine and coastal hypoxic and anoxic systems, geomicrobiology, and sediment sulfide geochemistry. Some of her research interests include marine policy issues related to power lines, natural gas pipelines and other energy related structures, as well as development of remote sensing tools to assess benthic changes in small estuaries and riverine systems.

Alireza Daneshfar is an associate professor of #accounting in our University of New Haven College of #Business. His research and work examines how the physical environment influences feelings, thoughts, behaviors, social organization and culture, as well as how these in turn shape the environment itself. To examine these processes, he uses diverse approaches ranging from quantitative applications to ethnographic methods.

He teaches courses in #criminology, scientific methods and research methods of #criminaljustice. His background includes working closely with the Detroit Police Department during the implementation of their "Ceasefire" anti-gun violence program. His research has appeared in Experimental Criminology and Criminal Justice Police Review, Race and Justice.
