Kakapo parrot from New Zealand. They are large, nocturnal, flightless parrots who are also incredibly endangered. Impossible to see them, but knowing such neat animals live in New Zealand makes me want to visit.

The Blue Duck (Hymenolaimus malacorhynchos) is a member of the duck, goose and swan family Anatidae endemic to New Zealand. The Māori name, sometimes used in English, is whio, which is an onomatopoetic rendition of the males' call.
